We recommend watching these two videos to learn more about what neurofeedback is and how it works, as well as the video below:
Dr. Siegfried Othmer, Ph.D “What is Neurofeedback“.
Martin Brink, BCIA “What is Neurotherapy“.
How does neurofeedback work to help you regain your life? First, neurofeedback can assess the functioning of your brain, which is different from an MRI or CT scan that looks at the brain structure. There are various neurofeedback assessments, such as QEEG (Quanatitive EEG), Loretta, LENS maps, and Avatar 3-dimensional maps, that can locate the specific location, neural hub, and electrical frequency that is not functioning properly. This information is shared with you. From this assessment, the method, or methods of treatment are specifically designed to help the brain repair itself.
WE ARE TRAINED IN QEEG MAPPING along with the various methods and techniques. We have an integrative practice including case managers, therapists, life coaches, body & energy workers, and a nutrition educator on site, and a Medical Doctor for referrals – all of whom are passionate about treating the whole person and working together with you to help your brain, emotions, body, and heart (feelings) become regulated, and to learn to trust life and yourself again. We can tailor your neurofeedback sessions to your particular needs based on the assessments we use.
Attachment-Focused EMDR: Healing Relational Trauma
Book author: Laurel Parnell
EMDR Therapy (or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) is an integrative therapy that helps people heal from traumatic events as well as life disturbing experiences. Discovered by Dr. Francine Shapiro, EMDR Therapy has received worldwide attention for helping millions of people heal from PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) caused from traumatic events such as rape, sexual/emotional/mental abuse, auto accidents, and combat.
EMDR Therapy can also help people who feel distress in their lives to heal and feel more whole after events that have been disturbing such as divorce, life transitions, grief, anxiety, and much more.
When people are experiencing distress in their lives and can’t find a way to fix it on their own they can use EMDR Therapy. Sometimes events happen in a person’s life and they struggle to find a way to integrate that incident. That event can become an unprocessed memory and get stored in the brain creating symptoms that are uncomfortable. Physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and images associated with the event can get locked into the brain, and without treatment, may lead to distressing symptoms and behaviors.
EMDR Therapy is designed to help you identify and process these stuck pieces so that the symptoms can decrease leaving you more alive and less distressed. EMDR Therapy helps facilitate the activation of the brain’s inherent system to process and integrate the information that got stored or stuck. EMDR Therapy will not erase the memory, rather you will be able to remember the story without the emotional charge that was distressing before the treatment.
EMDR Therapy is a comprehensive approach to therapy that integrates elements of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies to maximize treatment effects. EMDR Therapy with an emphasis on a healing attachment trauma provides a present-centered, felt experience of connection. Effective therapy allows clients to develop new relationship expectations and find meaningful connections in the world.
